A 42-year-old man is nursing injuries at Yala Sub-county Hospital in Siaya County after he was hacked by his neighbour for giving the neighbour’s chicken to a friend at Kodiaga market in Gem.

Thomas Oluoch is said to have been given the hen by the neighbour who has only been identified as Shida before he allegedly gave it to Shida’s friend known as Rasta.

According to Siaya County Police Commander Mr. Cleti Kimaiyo, the matter was reported at Mutumbu Police post by one Miriam Nyende of Kodiaga Market, that his cousin Thomas Oluoch had been hacked on the head.

Officers from the police post rushed to the scene and established that an assailant alias Shida had given the victim a hen for temporary custody and on demanding it back, he was informed that the hen had been taken by his friend alias Rasta.

They were informed that Shida became furious and hacked Thomas thereby inflicting a deep cut on his head using a panga.

Mr Kimaiyo confirmed the incident saying that the victim was rushed to Yala sub-county hospital where he was admitted in critical condition as investigations began into the matter.

He stated that after committing the felony, the assailant escaped together with his weapon and is still at large.
