Man sentenced to 20 years in prison for defiling a minor in Machakos

A middle-aged man was sentenced to 20 years in prison after being found guilty of the defilement of a minor.

A Kangundo court delivered its judgement on Wednesday, sentencing the accused Micah Mutua Mule to prison.

According to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (ODPP), Mutua committed the offence on 1st July 2020 at Kwa Matingi Kambi in Kisukuoni Location, Matungulu Sub-county within Machakos County.

In her judgement, Principal Magistrate Daffline Sure ruled that the prosecution, led by Prosecution Counsel Vivianne Nyangena and Mirriam Mwaura, proved its case to the standard provided under the law.

The court indicated that four prosecution witnesses gave collaborative evidence against the accused and that the accused failed to exonerate himself of the charges against him, leaving the court with no choice but to convict and sentence him in accordance with the law.
