Man stabs elder brother to death over food in Siaya
A 24-year-old man is being held at Siaya Police Station
after he allegedly stabbed his elder brother to death over food at
Sirongo-Oware village in Central Alego location.
The suspect, Lawrence Oduor Wayodi, is said to have
attacked his 26-year-old brother Erick Otieno while demanding for
food before they picked a quarrel that resulted into the unfortunate incident.
According to Kakumu-Kombewa sub-location Assistant
Chief Philip Ogola, the deceased was preparing an evening meal when the suspect
came in with his demands.
The deceased reportedly excused himself from their
late parents’ kitchen and walked down to his house then came back after a few minutes,
only to find the knife that he had used to cut tomatoes missing.
The administrator said that when Otieno asked for
the knife, Oduor poured water into the fire then picked a fight with him before
drawing the knife which he used to stab him to death.
The two brothers who are total orphans
have been staying at their late parents’ home, with Mr. Ogola stating that
after committing the heinous act, Oduor presented himself to his office to
report that he had killed his bother.
The Assistant Chief stated that he visited the
scene and found the deceased’s body lying in a pool of blood with several knife
wounds all over the chest.
He then called the police who took the body to the
Siaya County Referral Hospital mortuary, while the suspect was placed in
custody to help with investigations.
