Former Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Dr. Fred Matiang'i has been released from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters after hours of grilling by detectives following the alleged police raid at his Karen home three weeks ago.

Matiang'i was released on the condition that he avails himself without fail should the DCI summon him at any given time according to Nyamira Senator Okong'o Omogeni.

"They have released Matiang'i and told him they’ll summon him again on a need basis," Omogeni told Citizen Digital.

The DCI intends to charge Matiang'i for claiming that police raided his home on February 9, 2023.

As per a cautionary statement seen by Citizen Digital, Dr. Matiang'i is set to be charged with conspiracy to commit a felony.

The former CS also faces a secondary charge of publication of false information contrary to section 23 of the computer misuse and cybercrimes  Act No. 5 2018.
