Mau Forest Critical To Kenya’s Water Supply

Mau Forest Critical To Kenya’s Water Supply

It is the single most important water catchment in Rift Valley and Western Kenya. It is critical in securing the water supply for domestic, urban development, agriculture, hydro-energy, tourism and industrial development.

However, the forest is facing many challenges from forest fires, new encroachments, deforestation, illegal logging, charcoal burning, road traversing through the forest and political interference.

It’s is because of this that the Kenya Water Towers Association led by chairman Dr. Isaac Kalua have decided to address the issues of water towers rehabilitation and restoration together with other relevant government agencies, development partners and all stakeholders.

KWTA is appealing to the Kenyan people to join hands with them in saving the ecosystem for the present and future generations.
