A Nairobi court was today told that late rally driver Asad Khan was abusive towards his girlfriends.

Samuel Kimani Kihanya, a chairman of Preston court -where late Asad lived - testified in a murder case against Maxine Wahome.

Kihanya recounted the events of December 12, 2022, when he called police officers after seeing Asad lying on the staircase with a pool of blood.

The chairman described Asad as a quiet person adding that one had to take time to know his other side.

“Asad was a quiet when you see him for the first time, when you get to know him …you get to know the other side of him,” court was told.

Kihanya further testified that when he saw Asad lying on the staircase, he decided to call the police officers to help. He said the guards manning the estate had told him that there had been fracas in Asad’s house not once not twice, but severally.

He said that when police officers arrived at the scene of crime, Maxine opened the door and upon entering the house he saw bottles of alcohol and miraa on the table that was in the sitting room and also noticed a pool of blood towards the kitchen .

Upon cross examination, Kihanya told the court that Asad had more than one girlfriend and was a violent person to all his girlfriends.

Asked why he decided to call the police instead of helping Asad, the witness said that he didn’t know it was serious.

“I did not know that he was injured...and people who fight all the time you leave it up to them,” he told the court.

“There's a time during COVID when he got altercation with a neighbor...He goes on and on...very abusive. They were arguing who should have a party during COVID and who shouldn't,” court was told.

He gave out another example when Khan got abusive.

“There's a time we were having drinks at his garage and at around 11 he started being abusive to another lady.”

He further said that when in the house Maxine narrated to the police what had happened, saying there was an altercation and she decided to hide in the kitchen balcony.

According to him, Maxine said that Asad was trying to get access to that kitchen and to get access he kicked the door and that's how he got injured in the foot.

The defense led by lawyer Phillip Murgor played a video showing Maxine crying and explaining to the police that Assad was beating her. They said the deceased cut himself while trying to get to Wahome.

In the case former Safari Rally Driver Maxine Wahome has been charged with the murder of her late boyfriend Asad Khan.

Asad died on December 19, 2022 while receiving treatment at a Nairobi Hospital.
