MCAs in fist fight over attempts to impeach County Speaker

Chaos erupted at Mombasa County Assembly on Tuesday after two rival camps clashed over an attempt to impeach Speaker Thadius Rajwanyi and his board.

The MCAs have been divided into two factions, those who support Speaker Rajwanyi and those against him.

The clashes began after embattled speakers expelled two MCA Jabez Mudahai of Kongowea ward and nominated MCA Mohammed Hatimy for alleged misconduct.

The team that wants to oust the speaker is led by Mohamed Hatimy, a nominated MCA and ODM chairman in Mombasa County.

It took the intervention of anti-riot police officers and inspectorate officials to intervene and disperse supporters of the two camps who were clashing inside and outside the county hall.

Earlier, a section of MCAs had maintained that Rajwanyi should only read his speech touching on county development, a matter that was opposed by those planning to introduce the impeachment motion against him.
