Mental test confirms Safari Rally Driver Maxine Wahome fit to stand murder trial
Safari Rally Driver Maxine Wahome is set to take
plea in court on Wednesday over the death of her late boyfriend and fellow
rally driver Asad Khan.
According to Lawyer Phillip Murgor a mental test conducted
on Maxine on Tuesday morning confirmed that she was fit to stand trial.
Maxine is expected to answer to one count of murder before the
High Court in Milimani.
Murgor, who has just taken over the case from the previous
lawyer says he has gone through all the evidence and facts, and he does not
know why the murder charge was preferred against his client.
The lawyer noted that he will not go into the merits of the
case at this stage but he hopes the state is ready to prosecute the murder case
with speed.
The Director of Public Prosecution made the decision to
charge Wahome with murder after investigations were concluded.
On Monday this week, a miscellaneous application that had been filed against Maxine Wahome was withdrawn.
This is after the prosecution made a decision
to charge her with murder of the late Asad Khan.
The application had been filed by the
prosecution in December 2022, to enable them complete investigations into the
matter.
