Meru MPs defend Kaimenyi against impeachment motion

MPs from Meru region have defended Education Cabinet Secretary Prof Jacob Kaimenyi against an impeachment motion facing him in Parliament.

Chuka Igamba/Ng’ombe MP Muthomi Njuki and Tharaka-Nithi County Women Representative Beatrice Nkatha have said the motion is aimed at sabotaging the performance of Kaimenyi in the Education docket.

Speaking at Chuka in Tharaka-Nithi County, Njuki said Jubilee MPs would unite to defeat the motion that is set to be tabled in Parliament on Tuesday.

Last week, National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi approved an impeachment motion against Kaimenyi over allegations of high handedness in handling education matters.

The motion, filed by Matayos MP Geoffrey Odanga, makes Kaimenyi the second Cabinet Secretary to face impeachment after Devolution CS Anne Waiguru was subjected to the same process.
