Meru Senator Mithika Linturi barred from contacting, harassing wife

Meru Senator Franklin Mithika Linturi’s wife, Marianne Jebet Kitany, has obtained restraining orders against the politician.

Milimani Commercial Court Senior Resident Magistrate I. Orenge, in his ruling, granted exclusive occupation of the besieged couple’s shared residence to Ms. Kitany, further barring the politician from loitering near the home or any other place where his wife frequents.

Mr. Linturi will also neither make any contact with his wife unless permitted by the court nor threaten to damage any of her property.

According to Magistrate Orenge’s interim order, the Senator is restrained “from physically or sexually abusing or threatening to abuse the Applicant, the Applicant’s staff, their six children and/or any other person associated with the Applicant.”

Mr. Linturi was ordered to allow Ms Kitany to enter any other of his residences in the company of an enforcement officer for the purpose of collecting her personal belongings.

Pending hearing and determination of an application dated October 25, 2018 filed by Ms. Kitany, the interim order was also issued “restraining the respondent from intimidating, harassing, stalking and/or engaging in any behavior which amounts to emotional, verbal or psychological abuse of the Applicant and/or the six children.”
