Midiwo threatens to name officials involved in Ksh5bn Health scandal

Gem MP Jakoyo Midiwo has threatened to name other officials involved in the Ksh5 billion scam at the Ministry of Health.

Speaking at Gina Primary School in Gem Sub-County on Friday, the MP claimed that all those involved in the misappropriation of funds at the health ministry are related to the president, further insisting that the Cabinet Secretary is the accounting officer and should be put to task.

The legislator noted that the CS should have knowledge of every financial transaction in the ministry.

“How can you not know where the money went? If your 2-year-old child steals a cow from a neighbor the police will come for the parent and not the child. They will arrest the owner of the house because that is where the cow has been found,” Midiwo said.

The MP also alleged that Deputy President William Ruto is also involved in a lot of corruption scandals, adding that the controversial NYS money was not embezzled by businesswoman Josephine Kabura or former Cabinet secretary Anne Waiguru, but by leaders in the Jubilee Government.

Midiwo argued that for the first time Raila Odinga will be going to an election without an opposition, claiming that President Kenyatta is compromised and absent.

“We have the numbers to vote this government out to stop stealing from Kenyans because there is nothing left,” he said

“For a young woman of 34 years to proudly praise herself on national television that she took away over Ksh50m from the bank and carried it to hand it over to someone is sickening,” he quipped.

The Gem legislator urged Kenyans to prepare and vote the Jubilee government out at all costs.

Midiwo’s assertions came even as President Uhuru Kenyatta rubbished the claims of grand corruption in his administration terming them false and a ploy by the opposition to derail his development agenda.

Speaking on Friday during the Jubilee National Governing Council maiden meeting, President Kenyatta launched a scathing attack on opposition leader Raila Odinga over his claims of corruption in government, saying his main aim is to divide Kenyans and derail development.

“He cannot compete with those who want development and unity, he thrives in division and poverty,” he said of Cord leader Raila Odinga.

“He keeps saying money is missing so that we as Jubilee can leave our football pitch and join him in trading accusations so that we can forget what we’re doing and where we’re going,” he said.

While Cord leaders seek to paint the government as being riddled with corruption, the government appears to paint the opposition as sore losers who thrive in propaganda.
