Migori County department of Environment has raised concerns over waste from neighbouring Tanzania dumped in Kenya’s Isebania town.

Chief Officer Dalmas Odero has called on members of the public to work closely with the government on issues of waste management.

He said there are a number of towns including Isebania, where the government has had challenges in managing waste because it is sneaked into the town from the neighboring country, Tanzania.

The chief officer said they have reliable information that there are people living in Isebania who are conspiring with the people from Tanzania to dump waste in Isebania town.

Odero said the department is working closely with security officers in Isebania to trace the people who are bringing the waste from Tanzania.

He said culpable persons will be arrested and charged in the court of law.

The chief officer has appealed to the people living in Isebania to help them monitor the people bring waste from Tanzania as they play a big role in matters of waste management.
