Miguna deported for the second time

Fiery lawyer Miguna Miguna has been deported for a second time even as his lawyers were beaten up by police and kicked out of the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on Wednesday night.

Miguna has since claimed that he was drugged before being put in Emirates flight EK 722 to Dubai.

A post on his Facebook page indicates that he is in severe pain and did not leave Kenya on his own volition.

On Wednesday night,  Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria broke the news of Miguna’s deportation on Facebook saying: “Aboard Flight EK 722. I can positively confirm that we have all nationalities on this flight including a very bald headed Canadian.”

Lawyer Otiende Amollo said on Twitter: “So they have assaulted Lawyers, defied the Court & deported Dr Miguna… on EK 722! I feel helpless & angry as an Advocate! Useless as an MP & Angry as a Kenyan.”

Miguna was expected to be released following a court order issued on Wednesday, however it seems the government was intent on blocking his entry into the country.

His lawyers Senator James Orengo, Cliff Ombeta and Julie Soweto had tried to issue the court order to the relevant airport officials but were barred by a contingent of 50 armed police officers.

The General Service Unit (GSU) officers roughed them up preventing them from further access into the airport.

Earlier in the day, Justice George Odunga also found CS Fred Matiang’i and Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet guilty of contempt of court and said they should appear in court on Thursday for sentencing.
