Miguna reacts to running mate’s resignation
Independent Gubernatorial hopeful for Nairobi, Miguna Miguna, has expressed regret that his running mate, Karen Wanjiku Wangenye, failed to officially tender a resignation letter to him as protocol dictates.
Miguna also dismissed Ms Wangenye’s resignation denoting it as unconstitutional.
“The Constitution and Elections Act does not allow for a running mate who has been duly nominated to resign,” he noted.
Quoting Section 18 of the Elections Act, Miguna said Wagenye could only resign before being gazetted by the Independent Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
So far, Miguna has been ditched by two running mates in a span of two months.
The lawyer reassured his supporters and Nairobians his name is still on the ballot for the position of Governor of Nairobi on August 8, 2017.
