Ministry releases emergency numbers as families look for missing soldiers

The Ministry of Defence has issued telephone numbers to assists families, relatives and friends trace their loved ones who were serving in Somalia when Al Shabaab attacked the El Adde AMISOM camp on Friday killing several Kenyan soldiers.

The number for the Defense Headquarters is – 0792 780 862, while that of Defence Forces Memorial Hospital is – 0792 780 863.

The number for Gilgil is – 0790 780 864, while that of Eldoret barracks is – 0792 780 865.

Meanwhile, a family in Homa Bay County is living in uncertainty over the whereabouts of their two sons who are members of the Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) in Somalia.

The family of 25-year-old Wyclife Oguta and his brother William Oguta say they are only hoping their sons are safe, following news that Al Shabaab attacked a KDF camp in Somalia and killed dozens of Kenyan soldiers.

In Waondo village, the family of Michael Owino, who was posted to Somalia for the first time as a KDF officer, has also not heard from him since the incident occurred.

According to the parents and relatives, Owino communicated with them daily, but has gone quiet since the family heard the news of the attack.

The father, Nicholas Owino is, however, still waiting for communication from the government about the fate of his only son.

On Friday morning, an unknown number of soldiers were killed following an early morning Al Shabaab attack on the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) camp at El Adde in Somalia.
