Two women claiming to be the wives of Samuel Muvota, the man shot dead on Mirema Drive on Monday, May 16, have given police statements.

Anne Wanja, 32, of Kahawa Wendani, recorded her statement on Monday, while Salome Wairimu, 28, of Githurai 45, recorded her statement with the Kasarani DCI on Saturday.

Detectives summoned them after investigations revealed that they had frequent contact with the deceased.

Wairimu, who works at a mobile money shop in Githurai 44, told investigators that she met Mr.Muvota in March and that they fell in love. They began dating shortly after that.

She claimed Muvota informed her that he worked for the Ministry of Livestock. Muvota paid her rent and sent her upkeep money for an entire year.

Wanja, for her part, stated that she met Mugota about two years ago at a Nairobi nightclub. He introduced himself as a Nairobi car dealer who was unmarried, according to her.

Muvota, like Wairimu, offered to pay her rent and cover her child's school fees but would ignore her requests to make their relationship official.

The two women said the deceased never stayed at their homes and always claimed to be on business trips.

Wanja and Wairimu join the list of Muvota's 'wives' who have come forward since Winnie Wambui recorded her statement. She lives on Kenyatta Road in Kiambu County.
