This follows the release of her results through channels that were initially unclear. But the crisis is far from over. Many students who qualified to join Grade 10 or have already reported are still waiting to receive their results.
Among them is Joy Chepkirui from Kericho County.
It is a huge relief for 15 year old Sylvia Nyaboke Mokua, who had almost given up on her dream of joining Grade 10 after sitting the Grade 9 KJSEA examination but failing to receive her results.
This followed her use of a photocopied examination paper after her official exam scripts were unavailable.
Her journey to joining Grade 10 hit a dead end after the release of results, with Sylvia emerging as the only student at Nyankono DEB School who did not receive her results.
However, after Citizen Television highlighted the anomaly, she finally received her results from the Ministry of Education and on Tuesday officially joined Nyaikuro Mixed Senior Secondary School.
"I had lost hope, but I am grateful that I finally received my results," said Sylvia Nyaboke Mokua, Student.
"Yesterday I received a call and was told to go and collect the results from school. Today I got them, and now I am taking my child to school. I was exhausted from following up every day and had lost hope," said Alexina Mong’ina, Sylvia’s Mother.
Sylvia’s mother is puzzled that, despite her daughter sitting the examination, she was the only student who missed out on receiving her results.
"She is my firstborn. I didn’t know what to do, but I thank God that she has finally returned to school," said Alexina Mong’ina, Sylvia’s Mother.
As Sylvia breathes a sigh of relief, in Kericho County Joy Chepkirui, a former pupil at Rungut Primary School in Bureti Constituency, is still struggling to trace her Grade 9 results.
Joy says she was issued with an emergency examination paper after missing the official one, but when results were released her classmates received theirs while she was left in limbo.
"Results yake haijatoka na sijui ni kwa nini?" said Janeth Korir, Joy’s Mother.
"Mi nataka kujua results zangu," said Joy Chepkirui.
Despite joining Sosit Girls Senior Secondary School rather than remaining at home while waiting for her results, Joy is still yet to receive them. The school administration says they are following up the matter with the Kenya National Examinations Council, KNEC.
"We are following up her results with KNEC. We will give feedback, but for now we are ensuring that she continues with Grade 10 as the follow up continues," said Betty Langat, Deputy Principal, Sosit Girls Secondary School.
