Kuria is admitted at a hospital in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, where the stem cell surgery will be conducted on Wednesday, December 15.
Stem cell is a modern cutting edge medical innovation that is geared towards faster development and regeneration of body cells and nerves.
According to Kuria, the surgery will be conducted by a team of top medics from UAE, India, Germany and South Korea.
"The doctors have already landed for this operation. The parts of my feet that suffered burns take a very long time to heal but they will heal ultimately," said Kuria
Kuria was admitted at Karen Hospital since his feet exploded, after long spells of using the warm mat he purchased through a friend, to remedy the numbness he was experiencing.
"The longer the healing period, the higher the risk of exposure to opportunistic infections thus the decision for stem cell surgery’ quipped," the Gatundu South Lawmaker.
Members of the MP’s family have joined him in Dubai, ahead of the intricate surgery that will arguably make Kuria among the first patients to undergo it in the African continent.
"My family joined me yesterday to see through the surgery which is great," revealed the MP.
During his admission in a Dubai hospital, several colleagues from the political scene have stopped by his hospital bed, to wish him a quick recovery. They include National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi, KANU chairman Gideon Moi, Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho, his Kiambu counterpart Dr. James Nyoro, Senators Abdul Haji of Garissa and Nominated Senator Ngugi IG, as well as 20 members of the National Assembly.
"They have kept me abreast with the political happenings back home though I am trying my best to forget about siasa and focus on my healing," said Kuria.
Kuria’s surgery will coincide with two by-elections in which he has an interest. His Chama Cha Kazi (CCK) is fielding a candidate; Milton Mwenda in the Kiagu Ward By-election in Meru County. He is also supporting Jubilee Party’s flagbearer Donald Fundi Saleri in the Mahoo Ward By-election in Taita Taveta County.
"I wish Milton and Donald, my old friend, victory in the by-elections," added Kuria.
On October 7th, two weeks after the incident, Kuria exclusively narrated to Citizen Digital how he sustained the career-threatening burns.
"Two weeks ago, a friend of mine convinced me to use a gadget which to my knowledge I thought was authorised. This gadget happened to do some slow-burning of my feet. I was trying to cure a problem by introducing a killer solution. I went home at night and my feet just exploded," said Kuria.
"I came here the following day and they said I had third-degree burns. They had to do some emergency surgery, then they did a proper surgery and as late as yesterday yet another surgery. Something that was supposed to be a solution has seen me undergo three surgeries."
The gadget, according to Kuria, cost Ksh.250,000.
He says prior to the accident, he was on the verge of buying the same gadget for his mother.
"If you go through this experience, it is very easy to get depressed. Why did I listen to this guy; someone who has worked internationally for decades and with a good education," added Kuria.
Directors of CERAGEM, the distributors of the warm mat that caused Kuria third-degree burns were taken to task by the National Assembly’s health committee on the efficacy and safety of their gadgets, and why they were distributing medical equipment without approval and authorisation from the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board (KMPDB).
