Western region leaders decry Wetangula ouster

Leaders from western Kenya have criticised the removal of Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula as minority leader.

Led by former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale, they said the move by Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) senators had created a rift within the coalition yet they need to work together in readiness for the next General Elections.

According to National Super Alliance (NASA) co-principal Musalia Mudavadi, leaders from the Western region have agreed to support one of their own to run for presidency in 2022.

They urged residents the Luhya community to support the move to back one leader from the region and vote as a bloc.

On his part, Mr. Wetangula said uniting together will guarantee them a seat at the helm.

The leaders however maintained that they are not against dialogue but it has to be all inclusive.

They were speaking during a tour of Majengo, Mbale and Chavakali on Saturday. They then headed to Nandi County.
