Moses Wetangula’s Ford Kenya party announces NASA exit

Moses Wetangula affiliated Ford Kenya party has resolved to exit the NASA alliance, becoming the latest affiliate party to do so.

The party follows the lead of Mudavadi’s ANC, Kalonzo’s Wiper and Raila’s ODM that have exited the political union of 2017 polls.

Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangula announced the party exit on Saturday after the party held its NEC meeting and members agreed to endorse the party withdraw from NASA.

Wetangula says despite Ford Kenya quitting NASA ,the party demands its share of the party funding from ODM.

Ford Kenya appears to have followed in the footsteps of the ODM party which made its intention to leave the troubled union earlier in the week.

In a press briefing on Thursday, ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna said the decision was made following a meeting of the party’s National Executive Council (NEC).

NASA comprised of ODM, Wiper Party led by Kalonzo Musyoka, Musalia Mudavadi’s Amani National Congress (ANC) and Ford Kenya led by Moses Wetangula.

This comes following a protracted feud among the NASA coalition partners over sharing of party funds with ODM maintaining that its owes its coalition partners nothing.

“The NEC also deliberated on question of resolution of the dispute regarding sharing Party funds with our former partners in the NASA Coalition and wishes to make the following observations…. The offer to make certain payments to our former partners was made on a strictly without prejudice basis because from a plain reading of the Coalition Agreement, we owe nothing to our partners,” said Sifuna.

“We still hold that NASA is the past. To further demonstrate this point, the NEC of ODM has today resolved to formally exit the NASA Coalition.”
