Outgoing Kiminini Member of Parliament Chris Wamalwa has conceded defeat after failing in his quest to become the next Trans Nzoia Governor.

Wamalwa, in a social media post on Thursday evening, congratulated his opponent, Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) candidate George Natembeya, for reportedly winning the race.

Wamalwa’s concession speech however came before the official announcement of the winner by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

He thanked his supporters as well as the Ford-Kenya party for backing his bid, further wishing Natembeya well in his new role.

“The Elections are now over and the results are out. I have not been successful in my quest to be the second Governor of our great County. I thank the Almighty God, all my supporters, from both far and near, for their unyielding support. Receive my eternal gratitude,” he wrote.

“I thank the great people of Kiminini Constituency for giving me the opportunity to be their MP for two terms. I thank my Party- Ford Kenya for it's support. My heartfelt gratitude to the party supporters and volunteers who have worked so hard in this campaign.”
