Trans Nzoia: One dead after MP Chris Wamalwas campaign vehicle involved in accident

A woman was on Wednesday killed while other people sustained injuries following a road accident that occurred around Kiminini market, Trans Nzoia County.

Reports say that the driver of the vehicle was speeding and lost control hence running over the victim who was standing by the roadside.

Angry residents set the vehicle ablaze as first responders rushed the vehicle's driver to Kitale Level IV Hospital with serious leg injuries.

Confirming the incident, Kiminini OCPD  John Onditi revealed that the vehicle belongs to incumbent MP and Trans Nzoia Governor aspirant Chris Wamalwa, and that it was returning from  the campaign trail during the time of the accident.

Investigations into the accident are currently ongoing with police expected to give a detailed report in coming days.
