MP In Court For Fraud
Embakasi North MP James Mwangi Gakuya has been arraigned in a Nairobi court and charged with obtaining money under false pretence.
Appearing before Nairobi Chief Magistrate Daniel Ogembo, Gakuya denied the charges and was released on a cash bail of 1 million shillings or a bond of 5 million shillings with a surety of similar amount.
It is alleged that on the January 9th, 2014, Gakuya obtained 7 million shillings from his Makadara counterpart Bernard Mutura through a fraudulent land deal.
The MP is also charged with producing a false document and conspiracy to commit a felony.
The case will be heard on the July 21st 2015.
