MP Salasya finally meets woman who asked him to marry her

Mumias MP Peter Salasya has personally met the woman who went viral on social media for publicly asking the lawmaker to marry her.

In the undated video which did rounds online last week, Lydia Ronad can be seen holding a hand-written placard along Tom Mboya street which professed her love for the legislator while also urging the MP to ask for her hand in marriage.

Despite initially turning down her advances, Salasya offered to meet the woman for lunch via a rejoinder on Twitter.

The pair, on Tuesday, finally had the said luncheon at Parliament Grounds.

"I told Kenyans that I would invite her for lunch and in fact we have just had lunch with her. She is a very brave girl," said Salasya in a video that captured the pair dining at Parliament's canteen.

Salasya likewise promised to support the woman in her endeavours, highlighting that he believes she might have a career in politics in future.

"Vaida finally came for lunch in the Parliament building as I had promised Kenyans. Lydia will be the next woman rep of Kisii County or the replacement of my friend and South Mugirango MP Silvanus Osoro. Her courage and charisma will take her places," he said.

"I will support her to fulfill her dreams in her life."

A section of Kenyans on Twitter however slammed the lawmaker highlighting that the woman was very clear that all she wanted was for the MP to marry her and that she was not looking for a political mentor.
