EALA Member of Parliament David Ole Sankok has stirred the hornet's nest after an attempt to market his Narok-based resort raised a few eyebrows.

While speaking on his official Tiktok account, Sankok urged the public to visit the Osim Country Lodge in Narok County, a getaway hotel which sits on his expansive 28-acre farm.

Located about 10 kilometers away from Narok town, Osim Country Lodge offers a unique opportunity for visitors to bring along a live goat or cow and have it slaughtered and barbecued right at the premises - with the help of professional Maasai butchers.

"You can slaughter and enjoy your goat beside River Ewaso Nyiro in our motto of 'Jichinjie, Jichomee, Jienjoy.' Of course with the assistance of qualified Maasai Morans who have been in the forest for several years, " Sankok said.

Amongst other attractions the lodge offers, Sankok extensively spoke about the unique 'Lover's Nest' which is basically a perched tree-house into which couples can escape and spend an idyliic, romantic weekend, cut off from the world.

"It's a house on top of a gigantic acacia tree which has a toilet, two arm chairs, a fridge and a king-size bed," Sankok says.

"Here, lovers will spend their night in a natural manner, like monkeys on top of trees."

As he went on, Sankok controversially touted the benefits of the 'Lover's Nest's' unique position on top of a tree, saying it is a win for the boy child in search of sexual pleasure.

"The tree does not touch the ground, only the ladder touches the ground. After you get in, the ladder is removed. Because wasichana wengi wanakula fare ama wana-change their mind," Sankok goes on.

"At the Lover’s Nest, there's no change of mind. For the sake of the boy child, who in most cases pays the money for the house, we remove the ladder so that they stay there from evening till morning, so that the man can get the value for his money."

Sankok's marketing ploy has been viewed by some as a cheeky, misogynistic gimmick aimed at 'trapping' a helpless woman in an enclosure from which she has little choice and power over her movements and freedom.

By cleverly removing the ladder and basically entrapping the couple atop a thorny tree, Sankok believes the man, who has most likely paid for the house, will automatically be sexually serviced by a woman who, at this point, has no rescue and is at the man's mercy.

While he may have made the comments in jest, or just plain ignorance, Sankok's impudence and male-biased marketing stratagem might either cost his business or lead to a spike in unsavoury squabbles inside his beloved 'Lover's Nest'.
