MP Simon Mbugua arrested over attack on city businessman

East African Legislative Assembly MP Simon Mbugua has been arrested over last week’s assault on Nairobi Central Business District Association (NCBDA) chairman Timothy Muriuki.

The EALA legislator is currently being held at Central Police Station in Nairobi.

According to the police, the suspected hired goons, who have since gone into hiding, interrupted Muriuki’s press briefing on Monday, April 30 at a city hotel.

In the video, the suspects were captured shoving, kicking and threatening him.

Efforts by Mr. Muriuki to flee were futile as the rowdy gang caught up with him forcing him to sit in muddy water on the road.

Police have since placed a Ksh.500,000 bounty on each of the five suspects recorded on camera assaulting Muriuki but no arrests have been made so far.
