Nyaribari Chache Member of Parliament (MP) Zaheer Jhanda has fired at former president Uhuru Kenyatta over alleged attempt to challenge President William Ruto in the 2027 General Election.

Taking to social media on Sunday, the legislator argued that Uhuru and Raila Odinga failed to win over President Ruto in the 2022 polls despite having the State machinery.

He said that a similar attempt in the 2027 election will also turn futile and Kenyans will vote in President Ruto's favour.

"Uhuru and Raila tried as a joint force, with the full weight of the so-called “deep state” behind them  and still couldn’t stop Ruto," Jhanda noted.

"Now, to imagine that they can separately or even together mount a successful challenge against an incumbent President is not only far-fetched, it borders on political fantasy."

He added that ousting an incumbent leader in Kenya through old traditions has become an uphill task and Kenyans "already rendered their verdict".

This comes after Uhuru faulted the Kenya Kwanza government for what he termed “untested and untried experiments” that were hurting Kenyans.

"Today, many of the gains of the past have been eroded. Linda Mama and others have been replaced by new, untried and untested schemes. While we wait for these experiments to work, Kenyans suffer and our progress is dragged," during the Jubilee Party National Delegates Conference on Friday.

His sentiments attracted ridicule from Kenya Kwanza leaders, noting  that the current administration has undone progress made during his tenure.

They also insisted that the Kenya Kwanza administration is on the right trajectory and called on critics to give reforms time to bear fruit.
