MPs pass Bill giving them immunity against Judicial process

The National Assembly has passed a Bill which stops the Judiciary from interfering with the legislative process.

The Constitutional Amendment Bill by Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma now requires Senate approval and presidential assent before becoming law.

MPs have been unhappy with the courts for issuing injunctions on debate in Parliament and County Assemblies.

If the Bill is signed into law by the President, the judiciary will now be barred from stopping MPs, Senators and members of County Assemblies from debating matters before them.
