MP’s personal assistant remanded over Kilifi land fraud

A personal assistant to a Member of
Parliament in the Coast region has been arraigned at Shanzu Law Courts in a
case of malicious damage to property and conspiracy to commit a felony.
Victor Katana Mganga was charged with the
two counts over a disputed three-acre parcel of land in Kilifi South, which he
is believed to have grabbed from the original owner.
In the case dating back to June 2024,
Katana is said to have destroyed a perimeter wall erected by the landowner, a
land which was subdivided into three plots, an acre each.
Police say after pursuing the case, Kilifi South detectives found the PA culpable,
findings that the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP)
consented to.
Appearing before Shanzu Chief Magistrate’s
court, the pleaded not guilty to the charges and was remanded at Shimo la Tewa
prison till June 11, awaiting a pre-bail report.
