Mudavadi cautions Jubilee against polarizing the country

A section of leaders from Western Kenya led by Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi  have raised concerns over Jubilee’s thanksgiving rally held at Afraha Stadium, Nakuru, saying it aimed at polarizing the country.

Speaking at Booker Academy, Kakamega County, Mudavadi told the government to focus on relevant issues which aimed at developing the country, and make sure that victims’ of 2007/2008 clashes receive justice.

“We must tell these people to stop polarising the country again. It seems some people have never learnt, they are beginning to give confidence again to people who committed crimes, with the kind of debate that is going on, let us send one message across the country,” he said.

He also urged the government to table the Truth and Justice Reconciliation Commission (TJRC) report in Parliament in order to solve the country’s issues.

“The government should look into the TJRC’s recommendations which talk about healing in this country, the process of compensating victims, the process of dealing with ethnicity, and how to bring about national cohesion in order to help this country heal.”

Mudavadi also lashed out at the government for failing to tackle issues which affect Kenyans.

“The economy is not doing well; tea farmers have just lost Ksh 5 billion – Ksh 3 billion in Imperial Bank and Ksh 2 billion in Chase Bank. When a bank goes into receivership, it can take years for depositors to get their money.”

Lugari Member of Parliament Ayub Savula, on his part, called for unity across all the political factions.
