Multimedia University student Erick Mutinda charged with murder of Sylvia Kemunto

The court was told that Mutinda had undergone mental assessment and was found fit to stand trial.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge of murder.

When the matter came up for mention, the accused person, represented by lawyer Johnstone Jnr, confirmed that they had received the necessary documents in the case. The court was told that there are at least 17 witnesses expected to testify.

The hearing has been scheduled for January 26, 2026, with four witnesses expected to testify on that day.

Meanwhile, the court declined to review Mutinda’s cash bail terms saying that the court has not heard any witness in the case.

The court has earlier declined to grant Mutinda cash bail with lawyer lawyer Danstan Omari ,Shadrach Wambui - representing the victims family - opposed to the release of Mutinda .
