The committee, led by Danson Mungatana, visited Pastor Odero's church over the weekend and gave him a clean bill of health.
This comes amid allegations that Pastor Odero's church paid for the entire trip.
What was even more perplexing were allegations that the Senators traveled to Mombasa without a parliamentary secretariat, thus violating the house's standing orders.
The visit has divided the committee, with some Senators who did not travel questioning whether the visit was necessary.
Tana River Senator and committee chair Danson Mungatana defended the committee, saying all they did was try to find the truth.
"We were told that there were graves at the scene, we went and checked, there was none, we were told that there was a mortuary, we checked there was none, that is all we went to do." Mungatana said.
The issue of giving a clean bill of health is not on us, we don't even have such a mandate as a committee, all we are seeking is the truth." He added.
Mungatana, on the other hand, was tight-lipped about who funded the committee's trip to Kilifi county.
The committee that is scheduled to table its report on Thursday failed to hold their meeting today, with controversial pastor Paul Mackenzie failing to turn up.
In a letter, Mackenzie's advocate told the committee that he needed more time for him to appear.
"We thought that Mackenzie would jump at the chance to come and tell his side of the story with the immunity of the house, but has failed to turn, we will write our report with the evidence we have, but he can't claim that we didn't give him a chance." Mungatana said.
