Munya Blames “External Forces” For His Predicament

Munya says that his lawyers are being denied access to crucial documents to lodge an appeal against the decision to remove him as Meru Governor.

The decision was made by the High Court in Nyeri last week.

Munya has been holding campaign meetings in various parts of the county including one attended by Deputy President William Ruto.

The Meru gubernatorial seat has elicited interest from a number of candidates and is expected to be quite competitive.

Meru County Assembly Speaker Joseph Kaberia is currently serving as the County Governor.

A letter from the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) was copied to the Transition Authority as required by law to ensure the Kaberia assumes office in acting capacity until the By-election is held.

The date for the By-election will be set and announced in due course.
