Murang’a Water Company to build Water Training Institute

The Murang’a Water and Sanitation Company (MUWASCO) board has passed a resolution to put up a Water Training School.

Speaking in Murang’a after a stakeholders meeting, Board of Directors chairman Peter Munga said that they had for a long time been thinking of how the company can add value to the youth of Murang’a County.

Munga said plans are underway to open a Water Training Institute adding that the water will be of great help to other water undertakers in other counties.

Munga, who is also the chairman of Equity Bank Limited, said the school will also be another revenue stream for the water company.

He noted that Kenya Water Institute (KEWI) was the only water school in the country noting that it could not admit the high number of students who wanted to pursue a career in water.

Munga said the water company has extended its water and sewerage line to cover more people.

He said that after completion of a 800M bulk water project and sewer expansion last year, Murang’a town has grown in leaps and bound making the county a viable investment destination.

He noted that the company has extended their supply to cover potential upcoming town to open the county for investment and exporting surplus water to the neighbouring Kirinyaga County.
