Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs Cabinet
Secretary Salim Mvurya and his Labour and Social Protection counterpart
Florence Bore have been ranked the worst performing CSs by Kenyans, according
to a new report by research firm Infotrak.
The Voice of the People Poll released on Tuesday shows
that the former Kwale Governor, who took over the docket from Monica Juma in
October last year, has 0.2 per cent popularity, along with Bore who took over
from Simon Chelugui.
Others with a sub-1 per cent score are Davis Chirchir (Energy and Petroleum;
0.5%), Chelugui himself (Co-operatives
and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises; 0.4%), Njuguna
Ndung'u (Treasury; 0.4%), Roselinda Soipan Tuiya (Environment, 0.4%) and Rebecca
Miano (Regional Development; 0.3%).
On the other hand, Interior CS Kithure Kindiki led the
list with a 27 per cent score, followed by his Education counterpart Ezekiel
Machogu (12%) and Ababu Namwamba of Sports (8%).
The report generated a citizenry scorecard on the
ministries’ performance in the first 100 days under the new cabinet secretaries.
Ministry-wise, respondents ranked ICT as the most
performing ministry with a 54 per cent rating, followed by the Roads and
Transport ministry (50%) and Defense (49%).
Treasury together with Energy ranked lowest at 35%,
followed by Water, Sanitation and Irrigation (40%).
“The survey covered
all 47 counties and 8 regions of Kenya. To ensure national
representatives, the distribution of the survey sample across the regions
was proportionately allocated,” Infotrak said.
