The governor called on both protesters and law enforcement to uphold peace, dignity, and the rule of law during the demonstrations scheduled for Wednesday in Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD).
“Fellow Kenyans and Nairobians, as we mark one year of the Gen Z protests, I want to affirm that Nairobi City County supports the constitutional right to peaceful assembly. The voices of our people are powerful and important in shaping the future of our nation,” he said.
Sakaja acknowledged the energy, passion, and civic engagement demonstrated by the youth, saying he stands with protesters in their right to lawful and peaceful expression. He also called on the National Police Service to exercise professionalism in handling the protests.
"My administration has made arrangements for any necessary support. In case of any emergency within the city, call our operation center at 1508. Our ambulances, doctors, fire engines—whatever you require—will be available to assist you. We have prepared for that. Please stay safe," he assured.
