Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko’s father passes on

Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko’s father, Gideon Kioko Kivanguli, has passed on.

Sonko’s father was on Friday night admitted to the intensive care unit at a Nairobi hospital after he developed undisclosed complications.

The Senator had taken to his official Facebook page on Saturday morning to request Kenyans to pray for his ailing dad.

On Sunday evening, he again went to Facebook to break the sad news of his father’s death.

He wrote: “Dear Kenyans and watu wangu nyote in general, I thank each and every one of you for your prayers during my dad’s sickness.”

“We all loved him, but God loved him more than us. Mzee has just left us.”

Senator Sonko has requested Kenyans to continue incorporating his family in their prayers.

“Continue praying for our family and those in similar situations.”

Sonko and his late dad were very close, and the Senator attributed his success to him on numerous occasions. His mum, Saumu Mukami Mbuvi, passed on 16 years ago.

Just a few weeks ago, Sonko’s father celebrated his son’s graduation.
