Nairobi tycoon killed in night attack

Nairobi business tycoon Ramesh Gupta was on Monday night killed by suspected gangsters at his house in Parklands, Nairobi.

Confirming his demise, Gupta’s personal doctor, Dr Divesh Jayantilal, revealed that the suspected thugs hit the 75-year-old car dealer with an axe on the head, killing him instantly.

The assailants reportedly broke into his compound and tied up the security guards before gaining access to the house using his bedroom window.

Police are holding the night security guards at the Parklands Police Station for questioning over the incident as investigations into the brutal murder continue.

Gupta was reportedly living alone at the time of the incident.

His family members, who have been living in the UK, are expected in the country tomorrow (Wednesday).

The body of the deceased has been moved to MP Shah Hospital Mortuary.

This comes barely a week after a director of the controversial Githurai Ranching Company, John Waweru, was killed by unknown assailants in Zimmerman Estate, Nairobi.

Confirming the incident, Nairobi police boss Japheth Koome said that Waweru was shot twice in the chest as he dropped off one of his female employees at her home.
