Naivasha market faces closure over its unhygienic conditions
Naivasha traders have burnt an effigy of area MCA Eunice Mureithi to protest poor management of Niaivasha Open Air Market.
The traders accused the MCA, dubbed Mama Soko because she worked in the Market prior to the 2013 polls, of neglect, saying that the area reeks as garbage is not collected in time.
The demonstrations came barely three days after the public health department threatened to close the market over poor hygiene.
According to Esther Njambi, a trader, the sanitation facilities at the market have since been closed, adding that they were staring at the possibility of closing down the market.
“Our MCA Mama Soko is a disgrace to the society she is stopping developments that want to be done by well wishers which is wrong,” said Njambi
Njambi added that efforts to get her audience have been futile, noting that they had been forced to seek help elsewhere.
