Convicted murder suspect Joseph ‘Jowie’ Irungu has released a new Gospel song moments after Justice Grace Nzioka delivered a guilty verdict in the murder case of businesswoman Monica Kimani.

The song dubbed 'Nakuabudu' was uploaded on YouTube at 2pm on Friday, not too long after Jowie was found guilty of the 2018 murder.

In the song, Jowie proclaims God's greatness, singing, "Nakuabudu, nakusujudu, ni wewe... Yesu, milele..."

He continues: "Mikononi mwako Yesu, narejea. Miguuni mwako Yesu, nalilia."

The song, which has been released in audio version only, has already garnered over 7,000 views and a solid 700+ comments.

A photo of the singer with his hands raised as if in worship was used as the single's cover image.

Accompanying the music piece, Jowie shared a Bible verse, Psalms 150:6, which reads: "Let everything that hath breathe Praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD."

Jowie’s venture into Gospel music began in 2020 with his first release, 'Nishikilie!' which was dropped right after he was released on bail by the court following a stint at the Kamiti Maximum Security Prison in the Monica Kimani murder case.

He has three other songs: ‘Babie’, ‘Eyaah’ and ‘Juu'- which are all Gospel songs.

According to his family and childhood neighbours, Jowie was a member of a band that entertained revellers in Naivasha and Nakuru towns, where he was born and brought up.

Majority of the people in the comment section appear to support the singer, with many leaving positive comments.

The High Court on Friday found Jowie guilty of brutally killing Monica on the night of September 19, 2018, at her Lamuria Gardens apartment in Nairobi.

Delivering the judgment, Lady Justice Grace Nzioka ruled that the prosecution had adduced adequate evidence and proved beyond reasonable doubt that Jowie indeed committed the crime.

Former TV news anchor Jacque Maribe, who was charged alongside Irungu, was however acquitted of the same charge, with the judge stating that murder was not the proper charge that the prosecution should have preferred against her as there was no evidence linking her to the offence.
