Nakuru, Bomet leaders slam three MPs over Ruto-maize jibe

Leaders from Nakuru and Bomet counties have criticised three MPs over recent comments linking Deputy President William Ruto to the woes facing maize farmers in the country.

They are accusing legislators Alfred Keter, Joshua Kutuny and Silas Tiren of wanting to politicise the maize saga that has dominated headlines for the past few months.

“Stop politicising maize issues as this will lead to the country witnessing importing maize again and farmers might start shunning the produce which will ultimately lead to another shortage,” Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui said.

He was speaking at Chepseon, Salgaa village in Rongai constituency during the burial of the late Pastor Wilson Kimalel Chumo.

Mzee Chumo was father to Mosop Ward MCA Daniel Mutai.

Governor Kinyanjui lauded DP Ruto saying his efforts in enhancing the development of counties such as Nakuru mirrors what is prioritised in the Big 4 agenda.

Hillary Barchok (Bomet Deputy Governor), Samuel Tonui (Nakuru County Assembly Deputy Speaker) and Liza Chelule (Nakuru Woman Rep) echoed these sentiments and urged leaders to stop abusing the DP.
