Nakuru businessman shoots dead suspected thug

An firearm-licensed businessman in Nakuru town shot dead one of the three suspected thugs who had accessed his compound at Boror village in Rongai Constituency, Nakuru County Thursday night.

Rongai Deputy County Commissioner David Koskei said the incident happened a few minutes past 11PM.

Koskei said the thugs, armed with crude weapons, accessed the compound of the businessman and locked it from inside knowing that the owner had not arrived.

The businessman then arrived using a hired motorbike and found the gate locked but used a different gate.

The three suspects then started attacking him with one of them hitting him on the head with a metal rod before he removed his pistol and fired at them killing one instantly.

Koskei has issued an alert to locals on the rising number of criminal activities.

Following the incident, police in Rongai have intensified man hunt for the two robbers who escaped.

Koskei said police responded urgently following the Mulika Security Alarm that has been put up by the County Government of Nakuru as a way of fighting crime.
