Nakuru County govt shuts down non-essential service offices

The county government of Nakuru has shut down its non-core offices for 30 days effective Monday.

Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui said the move follows the escalating cases of COVID-19 in the county and country, at large, and the severity of the third wave.

Staff members have since been directed to work from home in strict compliance with Ministry of Health protocols.

Critical and essential services such as healthcare, water, disaster response, revenue, general cleaning, finance and procurement will however still be offered.

“We consider these measures as important in curtailing the high COVID-19 infections witnessed in recent days,” read part of the statement signed by Governor Kinyanjui.

Nakuru is listed among 5 counties that have been put under cessation of movement with the dusk to dawn curfew starting at 8pm to 4am.
