Nakuru County official Samwel Kingori succumbs to COVID-19

A Nakuru County official Samwel Kingori has succumbed to COVID-19 complications while undergoing treatment.

A statement from Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyajui said the Public Health Chief Officer had been hospitalised for a few days and died on Monday morning following a cardiac arrest.

In his message of condolence, the Governor described the deceased as a general in the fight against COVID-19 who mobilised trained and coordinated the public health workers as well as vulnerable groups across the county with amazing outcomes in all fronts.

“He was instrumental in laying our healthcare strategy plan that resulted in the upgrade of service delivery and infrastructure. He was very passionate for results and took great pride in a better Nakuru,” Governor Kinyanjui said.

Residents of Nakuru mourned the late Kingori on Facebook where a statement of his demise had been posted.

Grace Koi Karuga Karuga wrote: “My Sincere and heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, collegues and the good people of Nakuru County we have indeed lost an honest and dedicated servant. Rest with the Angels sir,”

Another user Sarah Bebi Dan posted: “So sad , we have lost a hero in public health may God rest his soul in eternal peace”

Zachary Kipsimtah also weighed in on the news, saying : “COVID-19 third wave is devastating our country…we need prayers and a serious one this time!”

“Very sorry for the loss what a great man he was . He run his docket smoothly and made services to wanjiku commendable. RIP Chief Officer,” Wanjiru Wahome said.
