Nakuru man who tortured son to death charged

A 35-year-old man alleged to have tortured his son to death was on Tuesday arraigned and charged with murder.

Mr. Ezekiel Kagiri Njui was charged before Justice Maureen Odero for allegedly strangling his four-year-old son using a belt and later nailed his hands together at his house.

The court was told Mr. Kagiri then fled the house leaving the dead child behind at their home in Prayer Centre, Nakuru.

He was arrested on Monday after he surrendered to Lanet Administration Police Camp and confessed to have committed the offence.

He however, did not plead to the charges as the court directed that he be taken to a hospital for mental evaluation.

Justice Odero further ordered that the suspect be remanded at the Nakuru G K prison.

“The accused to be taken for a psychiatrist examination before he can plead to the charges,” ruled Justice Odero.

He will be back in court on April 5.
