Nakuru Town West MP Samuel Arama spends night in police cell

Nakuru Town West Member of Parliament (MP) Samuel Arama was Friday evening arrested by detectives from the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) over land related corruption offences.

Sources disclosed to Citizen Digital that the MP was arrested alongside a lawyer at an entertainment joint in Nakuru and was taken to Railways Police Station where they spent the night.

Mr. Arama, who is also facing abuse of office charges over the same matter, is accused of conspiring with other individuals to fraudulently dispossess a businessman of his land in August 2015.

The MP and his co-accused are alleged to have forged a land sale agreement in respect to a plot belonging to Mr. Ahmed Muhammad Nisar, while purporting to have been signed by Mr. Yusufu Mustafah Ratemo.

According to the detectives, the uttered document claimed the MP had bought the plot from Mr. Ratemo at a cost of Ksh.60 million, yet the latter was not the owner of the piece of land in question.

The detectives are said to the looking for three other suspects involved in the scam before presenting them in court on Monday.
