Cop Nancy Njeri to be suspended as charges amended to murder

Police Constable Nancy Njeri now faces a suspension following the death of lawyer Onesmus Masaku on Sunday.

Makueni police boss Joseph Ole Napeiyan told Citizen Digital that Njeri will be suspended as she is set to face murder charges.

According to Napeiyan, the charges against Njeri will be amended from grievous harm to murder.

Masaku died at the Kenyatta National Hospital where he had been receiving treatment after his hands were slashed 11 days ago.

Njeri, who had been stationed at Makueni Police Station in Wote, is accused of slashing the advocate’s hands on October 7, 2020.

It is alleged that the two had an altercation at the lawyer’s house before the incident occurred.

The advocate was rushed to the Makueni Hospital but later transferred to KNH.

Njeri was later arrested and arraigned in court on October 9 where she was charged with causing grievous harm.

The court ruled that she remain in custody at Wote Police Station for 14 days as investigations continue.
