Naneu Muthoni: Woman allegedly killed by boyfriend in Lang'ata buried in Kajiado

Emotions on Tuesday ran high in Ilbisil, Kajiado County, during the funeral of 31-year-old Naneu Muthoni, who was allegedly murdered by her boyfriend in Lang’ata.

Family and friends mourned the late Muthoni as a charming and outgoing person who easily mingled and bonded with people.

Priscila Nang’urai, a relative, said: “Amekuwa ni mtoto ambaye amependa watu sana, sio tu wa familia lakini pia rafiki za familia na watu wengine.”

George Mbaya, the deceased’s friend, said; “Mara kwa mara tulikuwa tunakutana na yeye, msichana mpole, mchangamfu ambaye tulimjua kama dada yetu."

Those in attendance called on the relevant authorities to hasten investigations and ensure justice is done.

Kajiado Central MP Elijah Memusi said; “We want justice for this young girl. It was not her time, it was cruel, she did not deserve it, the least we can ask for is justice."

Muthoni went missing after leaving her home on November 11. Her body was found at her boyfriend's house in Onyonka estate in Lang’ata on November 15.

An autopsy conducted on Wednesday last week revealed that she died due to a traumatic brain injury; she was hit with a blunt object and a sharp object penetrated her head.

The suspect, Thomas Mbugua Muthee, who was also her boyfriend, was arrested at Malaba border last Saturday, as he allegedly tried to escape into neighbouring Uganda.

He is being detained at Lang’ata Police Station for 14 days to allow for further investigations, after which he is likely to face murder charges.
