NEMA launches solid waste management strategy

The Kenya National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA) launched a national solid waste management strategy Wednesday, September 14 in Nakuru County. The initiative followed complaints from residents in the various Nakuru sub-counties over poor waste management.

During the launch, NEMA Director General, Geoffrey Wakhungu, said the initiative would solve the issues facing solid waste disposal in areas such as Subukia, Naivasha, Njoro and Nakuru Central area.

According to him, with just 100 days of implementation of the project in various counties, the impact would be felt.

However, he called for collective responsibility from all the stakeholders in the project.
