'Not true,' police say on reports claiming examiner caught stealing clothes at Alliance Girls

Reports indicating that a KCSE examiner stationed at Alliance Girls High School was caught stealing clothes at the exam marking centre are not true.

This is according to Kikuyu OCPD Catherine Ringera who confirmed that they visited the school on Thursday after receiving reports on the alleged case of theft, only to find out that the matter had been misreported from the leaked CCTV footage capturing the incident.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, the OCPD said the examiner captured on the video had mistakenly picked her colleague’s garment while collecting hers from the clothesline.

The owner of the clothing that was mistakenly picked then went ahead to report the matter to the school management and it was then that the CCTV footage was retrieved to confirm who had indeed picked the missing attire.

The examiner captured on the CCTV was then asked to produce the clothes she picked from the clothesline and it was then that it was confirmed that indeed she had picked her colleague's attire.

She surrendered back the clothing and the matter was immediately resolved.

The incident occurred on January 5, 2022, and when police in Kikuyu visited the school yesterday (Thursday) they were informed of what transpired, discounting the theft allegations.

The OCPD confirmed that no one had been arrested or asked to record a statement on the incident as reported by sections of the media.
